Week of April 26 to May 3

Hello, wonderful students!

Congratulations on last week’s participation! I am pleased to follow you from home and to give you weekly feedback on your work. If you have any question, email me at  cpoulin@externatsjb.com. Don’t forget to look for my comments on my.flipgrid.com and on Google Classroom under “Travaux et devoirs”.

ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM

1.     Read Steve Jobs’s biography: Watch my little tutorial to activate the “Read along” feature. Use the link to access the ebook,            activate the “Read along” feature and read the book. The “Read along” feature will pace your reading and reading the entire                ebook will take about 20 minutes;

2.     Google Forms “About Steve Jobs”: Answer the comprehension questions about Steve Jobs’s biography (10 min.);

3.     Google Doc “A Wonder of My Time”: Write a short paragraph about a person, an invention OR an event that will make                    history. Think about the popularity, uniqueness, impact or influence this person or thing has.

        Explain who or what is your “wonder” and why this person or thing is memorable and unique. Pay attention to using                the right verb tenses (simple present or past). Make sure to click the button “Remettre” when you are done (30 min.).

        To inspire you, I provided you with an example written by a student last year on Google Classroom.

About Flipgrid:
Sharing your video with others is a great exercise and a splendid way to be part of a community of learners. But if you are really uncomfortable, you can say “I want this video to be private” at the start. I will respect your choice and will not activate it. I will give you feedback, but the video will only be seen by me.

How to see our comments about your videos on Flipgrid:
I record private feedback videos just for you! Log on with Google at  my.flipgrid.com. Use the tutorial I made to see exactly where you can see my comments.

PLAN FROM APRIL 14 TO APRIL 19:

1.        Watch the video «25 Idioms to Sound Like a Native» (12 min.);

2.     Compose a short “texto” conversation in which to include as many idioms as
possible. It must still make sense!  Use the PDF “Idioms and Expressions”, the last video and the example to get inspired.

Write in the Google Doc named “The Idiom Challenge”. Don’t forget to click on “Remettre” and “Rendre le devoir” when you are done.

4.     A little fun: Participate to a third Flipgrid named «Joke of the Day»
Reminders: I must approve your video before it is visible to others and it is possible to keep it private by saying “I want this video to be private” at the beginning. Check our feedback at my.flipgrid.com!

Music’All students, don’t forget to log on our Music’All Google Classroom. There are nice litte surprises for you!

Everything will be alright.
